This Spiced Apple Cider Margarita on the Rocks is a quick and easy fall cocktail that combines tequila, spiced apple cider, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur with a cinnamon-sugar rim. It’s perfect for autumn gatherings and takes just five minutes to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz blanco tequila
  • 2 oz spiced apple cider
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 0.5 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec)
  • Ice cubes
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 lime wedge
  • 1 thin apple slice (optional)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon-sugar rim: On a small plate, mix 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass, then dip the rim into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly. Tap off any excess.
  2. Fill the glass with ice: Add 3 to 4 large ice cubes to the prepared glass.
  3. Add the tequila: Pour 2 ounces of blanco tequila over the ice.
  4. Add the spiced apple cider: Pour 2 ounces of spiced apple cider into the glass.
  5. Add the fresh lime juice: Squeeze 1 ounce of fresh lime juice into the glass.
  6. Add the orange liqueur: Pour 0.5 ounces of orange liqueur into the mix.
  7. Stir gently: Use a bar spoon to stir the ingredients together for about 10 seconds until well combined.
  8. Taste and adjust: If too tart, add a pinch of sugar or more cider; if too sweet, add more lime juice.
  9. Garnish and serve: Add a thin apple slice and a cinnamon stick to the glass. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best results. For a non-alcoholic version, omit tequila and orange liqueur and replace with sparkling water or ginger ale. The cinnamon-sugar rim is essential for the full experience. If making a pitcher, multiply ingredients by 8 and refrigerate without ice until serving.
