These brown butter maple pecan blondies are a simple, five-ingredient treat with a rich, nutty flavor from browned butter, natural sweetness from maple syrup, and crunchy toasted pecans. Perfect for cozy occasions and quick baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (240ml) pure maple syrup (Grade A Amber preferred)
  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (120g) chopped pecans, toasted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt (optional, if butter is unsalted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. Spread chopped pecans on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5 minutes. Remove and let cool.
  3. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Stir constantly until it foams and then browns with little brown flecks and a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat immediately.
  4. Pour the browned butter into a mixing bowl. Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract until well blended.
  5. Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt if needed. Stir gently until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
  6. Fold in the toasted pecans, reserving a few for topping if desired.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle reserved pecans on top.
  8. Bake for 25-28 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Let the blondies cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before lifting out with parchment paper. Cut into squares once completely cooled.

Notes

Use a light-colored pan to brown butter so you can monitor the color change. Stir constantly to avoid burning. Toast pecans before adding for best flavor and crunch. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep blondies tender. Tent with foil if browning too fast on top. Refrigerate batter for a few hours to improve texture if desired.
