A quick and easy snack featuring crispy steak fries topped with melted sharp cheddar cheese, smoky bacon, and a drizzle of ranch dressing. Perfect for casual gatherings and satisfying cravings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds (680g) frozen steak fries (thick-cut preferred)
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crispy and crumbled (turkey bacon as leaner substitute)
  • 1.5 cups (150g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup (120ml) ranch dressing, homemade or store-bought
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: jalapeño slices, diced tomatoes, smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Arrange frozen steak fries in a single layer on the baking sheet. Drizzle lightly with oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. Rotate pan if needed for even cooking.
  3. While fries bake, cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cool.
  4. Remove fries from oven. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over fries, then scatter crumbled bacon and sliced green onions. Return to oven for 3-5 minutes until cheese melts.
  5. Drizzle ranch dressing over loaded fries just before serving. Garnish with extra green onions or jalapeño slices if desired.
  6. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

Flip fries halfway through baking for even crisping. Use thick-cut steak fries to avoid sogginess. Cook bacon separately to control crispiness. Add cheese at the end to keep fries crispy. Drizzle ranch just before serving to prevent sogginess. Air fryer can be used as an alternative cooking method.
