Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (95g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar (for caramel)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for caramel shine)
  • 2 ounces (56g) dark chocolate, melted (to pipe trophy details)
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon espresso powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy brownie lifting later.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until shiny and combined (about 2 minutes). Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each to keep the batter smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Sift together the dry ingredients: cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually fold these into the wet ingredients using a rubber spatula. If using, fold in espresso powder and nuts now.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Smooth the surface with the spatula. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
  5. While the brownies bake, prepare the caramel trophy base: In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water over medium heat. Swirl the pan gently until the sugar dissolves and turns a deep amber color, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the butter carefully. Pour the caramel onto a parchment-lined baking sheet in a trophy shape or simple circle. Let it cool and harden.
  6. Once brownies are done, let them cool completely in the pan. Lift out using the parchment paper overhang and transfer to a cutting board. Cut into squares or rectangles.
  7. Decorate the brownies: Pipe melted dark chocolate over the hardened caramel trophies to add details like “World’s Best Dad” or simple trophy handles. Place one trophy on each brownie square.
  8. Serve and enjoy at room temperature.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs for better batter texture. Do not overmix the batter to keep brownies fudgy. Watch caramel closely to avoid burning. Cool brownies completely before cutting. For gluten-free, substitute flour with 1:1 gluten-free blend. For dairy-free, use coconut oil and dairy-free chocolate. Caramel trophies can be refrigerated briefly if too sticky.
