Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups (150g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 cups (16 fl oz / 480ml) milk (dairy or plant-based such as almond, oat, or cow’s milk)
  • ½ cup (4 oz / 120g) softened cottage cheese
  • ½ cup (4 oz / 120g) Greek yogurt, plain or vanilla
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Flavor Variations (choose your favorites):
  • Berry Bliss: 1 cup (150g) mixed berries (fresh or frozen), plus a handful for topping
  • Tropical Mango: 1 cup (150g) diced mango, 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • Apple Cinnamon: 1 cup (150g) diced apple, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 2 tbsp chopped walnuts
  • Peanut Butter Banana: 1 medium sliced banana, 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
  • Chocolate Cherry: 2 tbsp chopped dark chocolate, ½ cup (75g) pitted cherries

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together 1½ cups rolled oats, 2 cups milk, ½ cup softened cottage cheese, ½ cup Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp chia seeds (if using), 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until creamy and smooth (about 5 minutes).
  2. Divide the mixture evenly into five 12 oz (350 ml) mason jars or airtight containers, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  3. Add chosen flavor variations to each jar: Berry Bliss with mixed berries; Tropical Mango with diced mango and shredded coconut; Apple Cinnamon with diced apple, ground cinnamon, and chopped walnuts; Peanut Butter Banana with sliced banana and natural peanut butter; Chocolate Cherry with chopped dark chocolate and pitted cherries (about 3 minutes).
  4. Seal jars tightly and refrigerate overnight or for at least 6 hours to allow oats to soften and flavors to meld.
  5. Before eating, stir each jar to mix flavors. Add a splash of milk if oats are too thick. Optionally, add fresh toppings or nuts for extra texture (about 2 minutes).

Notes

Use old-fashioned rolled oats for best texture; instant oats get mushy. Blend cottage cheese well to avoid lumps and achieve creamy texture. Chia seeds add thickness; grind them if you want less noticeable texture. Adjust sweetener to taste. For dairy-free, swap Greek yogurt with coconut yogurt and cottage cheese with blended silken tofu. Store prepared jars in fridge up to 5 days; freeze without fruit toppings for longer storage.
