These adorable mummy pigs in a blanket are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer made with crescent roll dough and cocktail sausages. Perfect for parties, they’re always the first to disappear!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 24 mini cocktail sausages or Lit’l Smokies
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 24 small dots of yellow mustard
  • 24 small dots of ketchup (optional)
  • Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Open the can of crescent roll dough. Unroll and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3 long, thin strips (24 strips total).
  3. Take one strip of dough and one cocktail sausage. Starting at one end, wrap the dough strip around the sausage at a slight angle, leaving a small gap near the top for the face. Press the end to seal. Repeat with all sausages.
  4. Place the wrapped sausages on the prepared baking sheet, about an inch apart.
  5. In a small bowl, beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Lightly brush the top of each mummy with the egg wash.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is puffed and golden brown.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes. Use a toothpick to dab a tiny dot of yellow mustard on each for eyes. Optionally, add a black sesame seed in the center of the mustard dot.
  8. Serve immediately.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the sausages; use thin strips and wrap loosely. Add the eyes after baking while still warm for better adhesion. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free crescent dough. For a vegetarian version, use vegetarian cocktail sausages.
