A vibrant and festive sangria featuring fresh berries, dry white wine, vodka, and a splash of citrus, perfect for summer celebrations and patriotic holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup raspberries
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced, seeds removed
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced, seeds removed
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • A handful of mint leaves, gently bruised (optional)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sparkling water

Instructions

  1. Rinse all berries thoroughly and pat dry. Hull and slice the strawberries into halves or quarters depending on size. Thinly slice the orange and lemon, removing any seeds.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Add the vodka and simple syrup, stir gently, and let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to macerate.
  3. Add the orange and lemon slices to the pitcher. Pour in the chilled white wine and orange liqueur. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 2, to let flavors meld.
  5. Just before serving, add the bruised mint leaves and top off the sangria with sparkling water. Stir gently.
  6. Serve in wide glasses filled halfway with sangria, including berries and citrus. Add ice cubes if desired and garnish with mint sprigs or whole berries.

Notes

Use a dry, crisp white wine to avoid overpowering the fruit flavors. Macerate berries in vodka and simple syrup for best flavor. Stir gently after adding sparkling water to keep bubbles intact. Chill sangria for at least 1 hour but no longer than 4 hours to prevent mushy berries. Add mint just before serving. Adjust simple syrup to taste depending on berry sweetness. Frozen berries should be thawed before use to avoid watery sangria. For a less boozy version, reduce vodka to 1/4 cup and increase sparkling water accordingly.
