  • ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cold water
  • 4 cups (roughly 600 g) crushed ice
  • 1½ cups (225 g) mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 2 tbsp (25 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • Optional garnishes: fresh mint leaves, lemon slices or wedges, extra whole berries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the simple syrup by combining ¾ cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature (about 10 minutes).
  2. Juice about 6 large lemons to yield 1 cup fresh lemon juice. Strain seeds out but keep pulp if desired.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup, lemon juice, and 3 cups cold water. Stir well and adjust sweetness or tartness if needed. Chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.
  4. In a blender, add mixed berries, 2 tbsp sugar, and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Blend until smooth or pulse for chunkier texture. Pour berry puree into a bowl and set aside.
  5. Add 4 cups crushed ice to the lemonade base in the blender. Pulse until a slushy texture forms, about 20–30 seconds. Avoid over-blending.
  6. Pour a scoop of lemonade slushie into each glass, spoon berry puree on top, and gently swirl with a skewer or spoon to create a marbled effect. Repeat layers until glasses are filled.
  7. Garnish with fresh mint leaves, lemon slices, or whole berries. Serve immediately with a straw.

Notes

Use crushed ice for best texture. Pulse blender in short bursts to avoid watery slushie. Prepare berry puree up to 24 hours ahead and keep refrigerated. Do not mix berry puree into lemonade base before serving to maintain swirl effect. For a fizzy twist, add sparkling water before serving. Can substitute sugar with honey or agave for different sweetness. For adult version, add vodka or gin after blending.
