Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) Tequila Blanco
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1 cup (240 ml) Fresh lime juice (about 68 limes)
  • 3/4 cup (180 ml) Simple syrup (homemade or store-bought, adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup Strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup Blueberries
  • 1 cup White seedless grapes or lychee (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Coarse salt or Tajín (optional, for rimming glasses)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the strawberries and blueberries under cold water. Hull and slice the strawberries into thin pieces. If using grapes or lychee for the white layer, rinse and drain them well.
  2. Place the sliced strawberries in the bottom of your pitcher. Use a muddler or wooden spoon to gently press them, releasing their juices but keeping some texture. Avoid over-mashing to prevent bitterness.
  3. Carefully add the grapes or lychee on top of the muddled strawberries, spreading them evenly to create a distinct white layer.
  4. Scatter the blueberries over the white layer, making sure they’re evenly distributed for a beautiful color contrast.
  5. In a separate bowl or measuring cup, combine the tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Stir well to blend all the flavors.
  6. Slowly pour the liquid mixture into the pitcher, over the layered berries. The liquids will mingle but the visual layers will mostly remain intact.
  7. Fill the pitcher with ice cubes to chill the margarita. For a less diluted drink, use large ice cubes or ice spheres if available.
  8. Just before serving, give the pitcher a gentle stir to combine some flavors without losing the pretty layered effect.
  9. Rim glasses with lime juice and dip into coarse salt or Tajín. Pour the margarita over ice-filled glasses, making sure to scoop some berries into each glass for garnish.

Notes

For a smoother margarita, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve before adding ice and serving. Prepare the pitcher 1-2 hours ahead and keep chilled for best flavor melding. Use large ice cubes to avoid quick dilution. Frozen berries can be used if fresh are unavailable; thaw and drain excess juice. Adjust simple syrup to taste for sweetness balance. Optional salt or Tajín rim adds a savory contrast.
