A fun, non-alcoholic Halloween sangria made with purple grape juice, apple cider, and ginger ale, filled with lychee ‘eyeballs’ and gummy worms. It’s a budget-friendly, kid-approved party centerpiece that’s easy to customize and make ahead.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups 100% purple grape juice
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 2 cups ginger ale
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 can (15 oz) lychees in syrup, drained
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced into thin wedges
  • 1 orange, sliced into thin rounds
  • 1 cup gummy worms
  • 1 cup gummy spiders or other Halloween gummies (optional)
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: ‘Bloody’ ice cubes (freeze raspberries or red food coloring in ice cubes)

Instructions

  1. Make the ‘Eyeballs’: Drain the can of lychees. Gently push a blueberry into the center hole of each lychee. Set aside.
  2. Prep the Fruit: Core the apple and slice into thin wedges. Slice the orange into thin rounds.
  3. Mix the Juice Base: In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine purple grape juice, apple cider, and orange juice. Stir well. (Can be done up to a day ahead and refrigerated.)
  4. Add the ‘Spooky’ Elements: Gently add the lychee ‘eyeballs,’ apple wedges, and orange slices to the pitcher. Stir gently.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to infuse.
  6. Add the Fizz & Ice: Just before serving, fill the pitcher with ice cubes. Pour in the cold ginger ale. Stir gently.
  7. The Grand Finale: Gently drop in gummy worms and gummy spiders. Let a few gummy worms hang over the rim of the pitcher. Stir once more.
  8. Serve: Pour into individual glasses, ensuring each glass gets at least one ‘eyeball’ and a gummy worm. Serve immediately.

Notes

Chill all ingredients beforehand to prevent ice from melting too quickly. Add ginger ale right before serving to keep it fizzy. For less sugar, use sparkling water instead of ginger ale and 100% juice with no added sugar. Apples may brown; toss with lemon juice to slow browning. Store juice base (without soda and ice) in the fridge for up to 3 days.
