These easy Halloween dirt cups are a quick, no-bake dessert made with layers of chocolate pudding, crushed Oreos, and gummy worms. Perfect for parties, they come together in 20 minutes and are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boxes (3.9 ounces each) chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 package (14.3 ounces) regular Oreo cookies
  • 1 cup gummy worms
  • 23 drops green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Place the entire package of Oreos (cream filling and all) into a large zip-top bag. Seal, pushing out air. Use a rolling pin to crush into fine crumbs with some slightly chunkier bits. Set aside.
  2. Make the pudding: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the two boxes of instant pudding mix with 3 cups of cold milk. Whisk vigorously for about 2 minutes until the pudding starts to thicken. If desired, add 2-3 drops of green food coloring and whisk until evenly distributed. Let the pudding sit for 5 minutes to fully set.
  3. Prepare your cups: Arrange 6-8 small clear cups on a baking sheet or tray.
  4. Layer the first round: Spoon about 2 tablespoons of crushed Oreo crumbs into the bottom of each cup. Press down gently with the back of a spoon to create a compact base layer.
  5. Add the pudding layer: Spoon or pour the pudding over the Oreo layer, filling each cup about halfway (about 1/4 cup per cup). Tap the tray gently on the counter to settle the pudding and remove air bubbles.
  6. Add the worms: Take 2-3 gummy worms and press them gently into the pudding layer, letting a little bit stick out.
  7. Top with more Oreo crumbs: Sprinkle a generous layer of crushed Oreos (about 2 tablespoons per cup) over the pudding, covering the worms completely. Do not press down.
  8. Add the final worms: Poke one or two more gummy worms into the top Oreo layer, letting them wiggle out at different angles.
  9. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving. For best results, refrigerate overnight.

Notes

For best texture, add the top layer of gummy worms just before serving if making ahead. Use cold milk for proper pudding set. Don’t overcrush Oreos; leave some small chunks for texture. Regular instant pudding is preferred over sugar-free for firmer consistency.
